Don’t Stop Believin’: Advising through the International Student Life Cycle

Description: International students face unique challenges during their time at the University. This can make advising complex at times when taking into consideration the effect that immigration status has on academics and vice versa. This presentation will explore these challenges and introduce resources to help international students through each stage of their journey.

Learning Outcomes: •Participants will understand the different stages of the international student experience at the University of Illinois •Participants will learn definitions of commonly used immigration terms •Participants will learn about barriers/challenges faced by international students •Participants will become familiarized with resources to help international students through their journey at Illinois.
